Certifications

The certifications behind every pair we ship.

AFPL Global is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 by KVQA, is a Sedex member audited under SMETA, holds AEO Tier 2 with Indian Customs, and is independently audited against the C-TPAT minimum security criteria. Certificate numbers, scope and validity for each are below.

Management systems

Quality, environment and safety

Three standards, all certified by KVQA Certification Services and valid to 12 October 2028, with surveillance audits in between. Each certificate covers manufacture and supply of footwear and footwear uppers across both sites.

Quality management

ISO 9001:2015

Certified by KVQA Certification Services Pvt. Ltd.

What it covers

The quality management system: how the processes that affect a finished pair are planned, monitored, corrected and improved.

Why it matters

Quality that rests on a system rather than on individuals survives staff changes, new lines and peak season. It is the standard most buyers treat as the baseline before any other conversation begins.

At our units

The certificate covers both sites: the Panki head office and the Jainpur factory. Production runs through a defined multi-stage quality control process, from incoming material inspection through to final checks before cartons are closed. The stages are set out in full on our production page.

What we can share

The current ISO 9001:2015 certificate.

Environmental management

ISO 14001:2015

Certified by KVQA Certification Services Pvt. Ltd.

What it covers

The environmental management system: how the site identifies, measures and reduces its environmental impact.

Why it matters

Environmental questions now arrive as part of supplier onboarding rather than after it. A certified system answers them with a managed process rather than a statement of intent.

At our units

A 1.1 MW solar plant on site. Rainwater harvesting, and sewage treated on site with the recycled water used for gardening and facility maintenance. Footwear boxes sustainably sourced and FSC-approved.

Occupational health and safety

ISO 45001:2018

Certified by KVQA Certification Services Pvt. Ltd.

What it covers

Occupational health and safety: hazard identification, risk control, training, and how incidents are recorded and acted on.

Why it matters

Worker safety is the part of a factory a photograph cannot verify and a single site visit only samples. A certified system is what stands in place of both.

At our units

A dedicated training centre, added in the 2022 expansion, alongside the product development building.

What we can share

Ethical trade

Audited by someone other than us

Ethical trade audit

SEDEX, audited under SMETA

Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit, carried out by an independent audit body.

What it covers

Four pillars: labour standards, health and safety, environment, and business ethics. The audit is carried out by an independent body, not by us.

Why it matters

Most US and European brands ask for a Sedex membership number and a current SMETA report before a supplier can be onboarded at all. Having one already in place means that step is behind us rather than ahead of us.

At our units

AFPL is a Sedex member and is audited under SMETA.

What we can share

Our Sedex membership number and the current SMETA report.

Customs and security

How cargo clears

Two programmes, two customs administrations. They do different jobs, and the difference is worth stating precisely.

Supply chain security

C-TPAT compliance

Independently audited by URS Certification Limited against the C-TPAT minimum security criteria.

What it covers

Supply chain security on cargo bound for the United States: how consignments are handled, who has access to them, and how that access is controlled.

Why it matters

C-TPAT is a programme run by US Customs and Border Protection, and CBP certifies its members directly. What we hold is an independent audit against the same minimum security criteria, carried out by URS Certification Limited. We draw that line ourselves, because your compliance team will draw it anyway, and a supplier who blurs it is telling you something about how they handle detail.

At our units

Audited on site at the Jainpur factory. Security there includes over 480 AI-enabled cameras, access control combining facial recognition and RFID with metal detection, a staffed control room, and secure personnel storage away from the production floor.

What we can share

The current C-TPAT compliance certificate.

Trusted trader status

AEO Tier 2

Granted by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, Government of India, under the WCO SAFE Framework.

What it covers

Authorised Economic Operator status as importer and exporter, covering how an operator's records, declarations and cargo handling are managed.

Why it matters

AEO shortens clearance on the export side, which is where an unrated exporter loses days. It is granted by Indian Customs under the WCO SAFE Framework. It is not an EU or a US authorisation, and India and the European Union have not concluded mutual recognition of AEO status. We say so plainly, because a supplier who blurs that distinction is telling you something about how they handle detail.

At our units

Tier 2, granted 26 June 2025 and covering both the Panki and Jainpur sites.

What we can share

The AEO Tier 2 certificate.

Packaging

Certified export packaging

Held on the material rather than on the factory, which is why it sits apart from the six certifications above rather than inside the count.

What it covers

The fibre used in our footwear boxes and export cartons.

Why it matters

Packaging moved from a cost line to a compliance line in 2026, and it is the easiest item on a shipment for a reviewer to check.

At our units

Footwear boxes are sustainably sourced and FSC-approved.

What we can share

The FSC documentation covering our carton supply.

05

Independent standing

Financial standing, independently rated

Not certifications, and not presented as certifications. They answer a different question, and it is one every sourcing director asks privately before committing a multi-season programme.

CRISIL

BBB+/Stable and A2

Long-term and short-term credit rating from CRISIL Ratings. An independent assessment of financial standing and the capacity to meet obligations, reviewed on the ratings cycle rather than declared by us.

Dun & Bradstreet

5A2

Financial strength and risk indicator. The rating international buyers and their credit teams already know how to read without asking us for anything.

We publish the ratings and not the underlying financials. A rating is a third party's judgment. A turnover figure is a number, and it invites a size comparison that tells you nothing about whether your programme ships.

How quality is checked

ISO 9001 governs the system. The checking itself happens on the line: incoming material inspection, then checks at cutting, upper, lasting and sole, a final inspection, carton sampling, and independent third-party inspection before anything leaves. A buyer who appoints their own inspection agency works inside that same process.

Come and check

Buyer-appointed auditors are given the same access as the independent inspectors already working inside our process.

Questions buyers ask

Which certifications does AFPL Global hold?

ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, all certified by KVQA Certification Services and valid to 12 October 2028. AEO Tier 2 with Indian Customs, valid to 25 June 2028. A C-TPAT compliance certificate audited by URS Certification Limited. Sedex membership with SMETA audit. Footwear boxes are FSC-approved. AFPL is also rated CRISIL BBB+/Stable and A2, and holds a Dun and Bradstreet 5A2.

Can we get copies of the certificates?

Yes. Certificate numbers, issuing bodies, scope and validity are published on this page for each certification, and the certificates themselves are available on request.

What scope do the certificates cover?

The ISO certificates cover manufacture and supply of footwear and footwear uppers across the Panki and Jainpur sites. The AEO authorisation names both sites. The C-TPAT compliance audit was carried out at the Jainpur factory. Each scope is printed on its certificate above.

Are you SEDEX audited, and can we see the report?

Yes, under SMETA, covering labour standards, health and safety, environment and business ethics. We share our Sedex membership number and the current report on request.

Can we run our own social or environmental audit?

Yes. Buyer-appointed auditors are given the same access as the independent inspectors already working inside our process.

What does C-TPAT mean for our US shipments?

C-TPAT is a US Customs and Border Protection programme covering supply chain security. CBP certifies its members directly. AFPL holds an independent audit against the same minimum security criteria, carried out by URS Certification Limited, rather than CBP membership. We state the difference rather than letting the logo imply it.

Is AEO a European certification?

No. AEO is granted by Indian Customs under the WCO SAFE Framework. It benefits you on the export side, through faster and more predictable clearance out of India. India and the European Union have not concluded mutual recognition of AEO status, so any supplier presenting AEO as EU recognition has it wrong.

How often are the certifications re-audited?

The ISO certificates run to 12 October 2028 with surveillance audits scheduled in September 2026 and September 2027. AEO Tier 2 runs to 25 June 2028. The C-TPAT compliance certificate runs to 14 July 2027 and is re-audited annually.

Do the certifications cover subcontracted work?

Any part of a programme placed outside our own units is disclosed at costing, and the same audit access applies to it.

Can we visit the factory?

Yes, and we will arrange it. We can also share a full 360 degree walkthrough of the floor if you want to see it before travelling.
